The Red-Wine-Hike through the Ahrtal is considered to be one of the most beautiful; this happens to be one of the most favorite hiking routes in Germany since more than 30 years.

The Red-Wine-Route of 35 km leads you while you are halfway up the mountains, from Bad Bodendorf via Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler up to Altenahr, through wine-terraces. You have a splendid view and you can watch wine-growers at work.
 
Outside the wine harvest the roads are rather empty and one can enjoy the scenic beauty all by oneself. This route is popular also in winter since it runs on the sunny side of the mountains and it is always a couple of degrees warmer than the vicinity.
