Nürburgring

At the beginning of the last century, as the motor sport was accelerated, some visionaries around the administrator of the Adenau district, Dr. Otto Creutz, had a great idea. They wanted to promote the motor sport and the district administrator wanted to encourage employment opportunities and increase income in the home town. So they constructed the first permanent race track in the world - of all the places at the highest location of the Eifel, around Nürburg. It is 22,835 km and 7,747 km long (northern and southern loop respectively).

Thus in 1927, the Nürburgring was born – not only the first but also the most ambitious, the most beautiful, the longest, and the most well-known race track in the world.

A myth since its inception; the best race drivers of their times have contributed to it: Rudolf Carraciola, Bernd Rosemeyer, Juan-Manuel Fangio, Graf Berghe von Trips, Jim Clark, Niki Lauda, father und son Stuck, Michael Schumacher, Stephan Bellof (who with the average speed of 200m/h mastered the so called Nordschleife (northern loop) in absolute record time: 6:11:13 min), and thousand others in the past 80 years.

Professionals say: whosoever wants to handle the „Grüne Hölle“(Green Hell) really well, he must have driven it at least for 1000 times.

One can experience personally what does this mean. In the evenings and on the race free weekends, every visitor can drive around the ring in his own car, with kith and kin, or on a motorbike.

The High Eifel is a fascinating district. Apart from the beautiful and barren region, many mountains and valleys, many woods and meadows, a lot of peace and isolation, a lot of wind and weather, there is still ample space up there.
